  The U-mail quotas are based on your primary affiliation and are 250MB for faculty and staff, 100MB for students and 20MB for accepted students.
• Convergence - U-mail Web Client
  Convergence, the new U-mail web client looks quite different from the previous version. The following information addresses some of the newer features of the software.

  • Browser Compatibility: The U-mail web interface (convergence) is compatible with Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2, and Safari 3. Other browsers may allow access but some features may not work. If you are experiencing difficulty, please try a different browser.
  • Email: How do I empty the trash?
    Right click on trash (Macintosh = ctrl + click) and choose "Empty Trash" from the pop-up (note: you may have to allow pop-ups for umail.und.edu).
  • Email: How do I "select all?"
    Right click within the message listing (Macintosh = ctrl +click) and choose "Select All" from the pop-up.
  • Email: Where's my Signature?
    Note, the signature is added to the very bottom of the message. If you reply to a message with a lot of forwards, scroll all the way to the bottom, you sig should be added there.
  • Email: How do I forward new messages to another address automatically?
    
  • Addressbook: Write to a group only sends to one person!
    If you choose a group then click the "Write to" button, it only sends to the individual address highlighted. To send to the whole group, right click the group name (Macintosh - ctrl+click) and choose "Compose Mail To."

• Known Issues using the Web (Sun Convergence):
  
  • Blank Messages -- a few people have reported that messages accessed using the web are blank. ITSS is working with the vendor re: this and other browser compatibility issues. In the meantime, please try a different browser or pc-based email software such as outlook express, eudora, mac mail etc.
    
    
  • Time Out -- connections to U-mail (web, imap, pop) are timing out even when actively working on a message. Until this issue is resolved, if you need to type a long message using Convergence (web) please type the content in a text editor and copy and paste to send.
     
  • Web Users Preview Pane -- the preview pane that displays the selected message at the bottom of the screen is a permanent feature. You may resize it by clicking on the double line between the list of messages and the pane and dragging to make it larger or smaller.
     
  • Internet Explorer 6 -- not all features work with IE 6, if you use IE 6 please try a different browser if you experience problems.
    

  Resolved Issues

  • Spell Checker - both manual check and check upon send
  • Internet Explorer 8 -- attachments problem has been resolved

  Please note the following:
   

  • Attachments are limited for POP and IMAP as well as the web. People using the web are limited to approximately 10MB (note: you can attach files larger than this but they will fail upon sending). People using POP/IMAP (e.g. Outlook Express, Eudora, Mac Mail etc.) are now limited to messages a total of 40MB.
     
  • Quotas are based on your primary affiliation and are as follow: 250MB for faculty and staff, 100MB for students and 20MB for accepted students.
     
  • The number of recipients you can send to is limited to 128/message. This applies whether you are using the web or POP/IMAP clients such as Eudora, Outlook Express and Mac Mail.
