To synchronize with Outlook, Outlook must be the default email client on
your PC.
-
The "Sun One Synchronization" tool does not run automatically. It only
synchronizes your calendars when you start the program and click on the
Synchronize button.
Installation Requirements
To install and run Sun ONE Synchronization, you need the following:
-
A Windows personal computer with a Pentium processor or later.
-
Microsoft Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, or Windows 2000 operating system
-
16 MB RAM (32 MB recommended).
-
20 MB free hard disk space.

Supported data sources. See Supported Applications
and Mobile Devices for more information.

Web Browser - Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher or Netscape 4.5 or higher.

If you are using a mobile device, you also need the linking device (for
example, a cable or infrared) and the software that came with the mobile
device.

For Palm devices: HotSync Manager.
-
For Windows CE devices: Active Sync
Installing Sun ONE Synchronization
Before you begin, it is strongly recommended that you:
Close all open programs.
Note: If you are upgrading from iPlanet Synchronization 1.0
to Sun ONE Synchronization 1.1, you must first uninstall iPlanet Synchronization
1.0.
To install Sun ONE Synchronization:
1) Close all open programs, if you have not already done so.
2) Start the Sun ONE Synchronization installation program.
3) Follow the instructions in the series of installation screens:

Welcome screen
-
License Agreement screen
-
Get Registration Information screen
-
Choose Destination Location screen
-
Select Components screen
-
Start Installation screen
4) When the installation is complete, click Finish.
Depending on the platform you are installing on, a reboot might be required.
The installation
program will prompt you if a reboot is needed.
How to Synchronize
To start synchronization:
From the Windows Start menu, click Programs, Sun ONE Synchronization
and then the PIM
or mobile device you want to synchronize.

Sun ONE Translator Settings
Before you synchronize your Sun ONE calendar data with your PIM or
mobile device, you must first configure your account settings using the
Sun ONE Translator Settings.
You can set the Sun ONE Translator Settings screen in two different
ways:

Click the Settings button on the Synchronize screen. Click the Translators
tab. Click the Sun ONE translator icon. Click the Configure button or,
-
Right click the Sun ONE translator icon displayed on the Synchronize screen.
This displays the Configure button under your cursor. Click the Configure
button.

The Calendar Tab
The Calendar tab allows you to configure the following settings needed
to synchronize your account with the Sun ONE Calendar Server.
Network Settings
Server: The name of your Sun ONE Calendar server. Type calendar.und.nodak.edu
.
Port: 80
Default: Click on this button to use the
default port number (80).
Use secure connection (SSL): We don't have
SSL activated on this server. Do not check this box.
Account Settings
User name: The user name for your U-mail account.
Password: The password for your U-mail account.
Remember password: Click this box if you want Sun ONE Synchronization
to remember your user name and password in subsequent synchs.
Other Settings
Reminder E-mail address: The address you want Calendar Server
reminders sent to.
Reminders are not synchronized if you do not enter an email address.
First Time Synchronization
When you select to synchronize for the first time you are given three
options for each data
source you've selected to synchronize:

Replace the PIM or mobile device records with Sun ONE records.

Replace Sun ONE records with the PIM or mobile device records.

Combine both PIM or mobile device and Sun ONE records
For example, the following screen shows the choices for a full synchronization
for Sun ONE
Calendar and Outlook:

Caution: Using the Combine option can cause duplicate records.
It is highly recommended that you do not use this option.

Synchronization 1.1 are:
